Dear Southern Avenue Scholars, Parents, and Community Members,

Welcome to the 2025-2026 academic year! I am Chiquita Perry, and I am both honored and excited to serve as your Principal. It is with great enthusiasm that I share my vision for our school, a vision built upon three core pillars:

1. Building Strong & Effective Teachers: Supporting and developing educators to improve the quality of instruction.

2. Positive Student Culture: Fostering a school culture that nurtures the whole child, supporting both academic and personal growth.

3. Parents & Community Partnerships: Building meaningful connections with parents and the broader community to create a supportive network for our students.

With sixteen years in education across both public and charter schools, I have had the privilege of serving in various roles, from Emotional Disturbance Teacher (K-5 & 6-8), to Inclusion English (9th–12th grades), and CLUE/Gifted Teacher (6th-8th & 9th-12th grades). My administrative experience includes roles as a Response to Intervention Lead, ELA Lead, Instructional Coach, High School Assistant Principal, and Principal of both Middle and High Schools. I have also served as a residency site principal for the New Leaders Aspiring Assistant Principal Program.

At Southern Avenue Charter, all decisions will be data-driven. Whether related to attendance, behavior, or academics, we will base our actions on thoughtful analysis to ensure our instructional plans meet the needs of each student. I encourage you to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or ideas you may have throughout the year. My door is always open, and I believe that through open communication, we can work together to create a positive and successful environment for all of our students. I am genuinely excited about the upcoming school year and the opportunity to work alongside such a dedicated and supportive community of families and teachers. Together, we will continue to build on the strong traditions of
excellence at Southern Avenue Charter and help our students achieve their brightest futures.
