Kaleidoscope Creative Arts Program

A KALEIDOSCOPE IS AN OPTICAL INSTRUMENT IN A ROTATING TUB IN WHICH BITS OF COLORED GLASS, ETC. ARE SHOWN BY REFLECTION IN CONTINUALLY CHANGING SYMMETRICAL FORM; FROM ONE BEAUTIFUL, EXCITING EXPERIENCE TO ANOTHER.

When one sees a kaleidoscope, one sees beautiful, exciting, continually changing forms; things of beauty. This is the case in Southern Avenue Elementary Charter School’s Creative Arts Program; therefore, this program is called Kaleidoscope.

Participation in this program is mandatory and enthusiastically encouraged for all children. Kaleidoscope is not being offered to just give the children meaningless, busy-work, after-school activities. This is an integral part of Southern Avenue Charter Elementary School’s “holistic” approach to education the whole children. This is a goal-oriented program.

The goal of Kaleidoscope is to: Increase each child’s learning forever by providing an exciting of: creative arts as a means of self-expression through the arts: cultural development as a means of successfully function in a culturally diverse society; and cognitive developing and higher order thinking activities as a means of developing a positive self concept.
